Karmen is a director, producer, and performer living in Queens with her dog and a drag queen roommate. As a Jewish trans woman, Karmen makes art to inspire queer liberation and to normalize the experiences of marginalized individuals.
Karmen studied theatre at the University of Southern California and British American Drama Academy before settling in NYC.
As an actor, Karmen has performed with the Ivoryton Playhouse, Post Playhouse, Joe's Pub, Urban Stages, and Stages on the Sound. Karmen is the resident actor for Core Ensemble's touring chamber musical, Equally Divine: the True Story of the Mona Lisa.
As a director, Karmen has worked with Shakespeare in the Woods, New York Musical Festival, Ensemble Theatre Company, the Long Wharf Theatre, Transport Group, the National Asian American Theatre Company, and Manhattan Repertory Theatre.
Karmen is on the board of the Theatre Advocacy Project, a non-profit organization working to create safe and equitable working conditions for all theatre professionals.
They are also on the TGNC Committee for the Ring of Keys, an artist service organization that fosters community and visibility for musical theatre artists - onstage and off - who self-identify as queer women, transgender, and gender non-conforming artists.
